Every gift matters to us

Your Gift, Your Legacy – Do Something Amazing

No matter the size of your gift, it will have a vital impact on our work

Your gift could help us:

  • Support carers in the community looking after people in their own homes at the end of their life
  • Pay for vital equipment for our inpatient ward
  • Help to buy beautiful summer plants for our gardens so our patients can enjoy them from their own bedrooms
  • Buy toys and play equipment for our Forget-me-Not Centre to help children and young people build resilience to help them cope with their bereavement
  • Put petrol in our Hospice at Home Nurses’ cars
  • Buy new hospice branded warm and waterproof jackets for the nurses to wear in the winter when they are braving the elements to reach people in their own homes

Including a gift in your Will to St John’s Hospice doesn’t mean neglecting your family and friends. Of course, they come first. But if there is any room for a legacy to your local Hospice, please think about the patients we care for every day, just like David and his wife.

Every gift matters.

How your gift makes a difference, words from the family of a patient we have cared for:

  • “The care and support we received from St John’s over the last six months of June’s life was out of this world. When people use the word hospice, you relate it to death but in actual fact, spending a few weeks there with both of us being looked after by the in-patient staff, actually gave June and I some extra precious months at home." “As the nurses cared for June, it dawned on me that they were looking after me as well. If I was having a particularly bad day, they would just sit with me, chat and listen. As far as I’m concerned, I will always help the Hospice in any way I can.”

    David Aris, Kenda

  • "I stayed at Mark’s side while we saw in the New Year, and every evening I was able to lie next to him because of the Hospice cuddle bed. Those days will remain precious to me - they meant we could stay together until he died in early January. I am so grateful to this local charity for all they have done for Mark and I.”

    Claire Slinger, Morecambe

  • "With the cancer came pain and we relied on the St John’s Hospice at Home team to help us. They were great and came out every day to Paul to manage his pain and we knew we could call on them 7 days a week."

    Jo Prouse, Lancaster
