Charity Challenge – St John’s Hospice
We have once again teamed up with Adventure Trails to host an exclusive event solely for businesses that have signed up to the Charity Challenge to help accomplish their fundraising goal.
Could you and your colleagues take on three Lakeland Peaks, starting at the entrance to the Lakes in Staveley and find your own way? If you think you can, why don’t you take part in the Hospice Hike Challenge!
Hospice Hike Challenge teams will compete against each other to see who can complete the 3 Lakeland Peaks in the quickest time! Each team will be given a route and a map, all slightly different. A tracker app will be used and will โpingโ at each checkpoint โ make sure you donโt incur a time penalty for not hitting a checkpoint!
All routes are approximately 15km (9 miles) so it is a challenge, but certainly achievable. However, the way the route is designed, it can be cut shorter if necessary.
Teams of up to 10 participants can enter with each team being allocated a Mountain Leader to โshadowโ the group and be responsible for mountain safety.
Older children can join the hike, so long as they have sufficient fitness. They must also be accompanied by a responsible adult who needs to be sure the child has sufficient fitness to complete the hike.
The event will have several dates for you to choose from:
- Wednesday 9th April
- Saturday 19th April
- Wednesday 23rd April
- Saturday 26th April
- Wednesday 7th May
- Saturday 10th May
You might be new to map reading and navigation, but donโt worry, you will be given the opportunity to get some training beforehand, which will be sufficient for the challenge. If your group has any navigation issues on the challenge, safety is always first most, so the allocated Mountain Leader will step in to assist.
To add to the competitive spirit, St John’s Hospice will be awarding the quickest team a trophy at the Charity Challenge Celebration Event!
The registration fee to take part is ยฃ30 per person, however the aim is to raise funds to support the work of St John’s through the Charity Challenge, and we ask each participant to aim to raise an additional ยฃ100 as a donation to the Hospice.
Please book your Hospice Hike places below. Once you have booked, our fundraisers will send out a participation form for you to send to every participant.
