A two-day multi-professional course lead by senior clinical team members from St John’s Hospice intended for senior health and social care who are regularly involved in complex, difficult, or challenging conversations with patients, families or colleagues on topics such as:

  • Delivering significant news
  • Responding to difficult questions
  • Supporting an upset or angry patient/carer
  • Collusion
  • Denial
  • Advance Care Planning conversations.

During this course you will benefit from:

  • Practical, experimental training sessions using simulated scenarios
  • Opportunities to practice newly developed skills with professional role play actors
  • Participant led agenda
  • Positive and constructive feedback within a learning environment

Intended for senior health and social care professionals (Specialty Trainees and above / band 6 and above).
This course meets the standards of the North West Learning Collaborative (2019) Standards and Guidelines for the provision of Advanced and Key Communication Skills Training.

Course dates: 8-9th May 2025 or 25-26 September 2025
